Cedar Point Recovery is proud to introduce the licensed and certified alcohol and drug treatment professionals that make up our treatment team, as well as the rest of the staff that make recovery possible for our clients. Our treatment team incorporates all of our rehabilitation services into individualized addiction recovery programs specifically designed for each client. Our people are passionate about working with people in addiction recovery, and use every available resource to design treatment programs that meet our clients physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
Andrew Mendonsa, Psy.D., MBA
Vice President of Clinical and Governmental Relations
Dr. Andrew Mendonsa currently serves as the Vice President of Clinical and Governmental Relations for Cedar Point Recovery, a subsidiary of Sprout Health. He previously served in the role of Chief Operations Officer. He earned his doctorate and Master’s degrees in Clinical Psychology from California School of Professional Psychology, and an MBA from Texas A&M University – a top tier and highly ranked business school. Andrew is licensed in California and over a dozen other states as a Clinical Psychologist. He is also a recognized Qualified Medical Evaluator (QME). He has earned various professional and community accolades including the prestigious 40 Under 40 Award and a Congressional Medal for community service. Dr. Mendonsa’s vision and business skills have earned him a well-documented history of proven success in leadership within the behavioral health and substance abuse treatment industries. Additionally, Dr. Mendonsa brings a unique skillset having served as a state surveyor and a regulatory and Joint Commission topic expert. He is a recognized media expert appearing on various local and national media networks discussing topics around behavioral health and sustained recovery. Before leading Cedar Point, Dr. Mendonsa worked for a large healthcare system, oversaw contract forensic treatment programs for local and state law enforcement agencies, and thrived in private practice.
Ian Johnson, MD
Dr. Ian Johnson is a board certified family medicine physician with additional interest in addiction medicine. He has been the Medical Director of several outpatient Opioid Treat Programs and community medical clinics. In addition to these other responsibilities, Dr. Johnson also serves as a Medical Director at Cedar Point Recovery drug and alcohol rehabilitation services in Sacramento, California. Dr. Johnson has an extensive military experience which includes: Active Duty Flight Surgeon, US Air Force and Combat Life Support Instructor and Subject Matter Expert in suicide prevention, US Army Reserves. He is a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the US Army Reserves. Dr. Johnson is an active member of the American Society of Addiction Medicine, California Society of Addiction Medicine, American Academy of Family Practitioners and California Academy of Family Practitioners. Dr. Johnson’s principal hobby is writing poetry. Many of his poems have been inspired by and written for patients whom he has attended to in his duties as an addiction medicine physician.
Jody M. Ressio, MA, LAADC, ICADC, IS
Jody M. Ressio
Jody serves at the Executive Director at Cedar Point Recovery. She brings extensive administrative experience working in private, nonprofit, and medically assisted substance abuse treatment facilities. She has an MA in Psychology, is a Licensed Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor, and is a certified interventionist. Jody has over 18 years of her own sobriety and has chosen this field to give hope and success to people who are suffering with addiction. Jody brings both passion and expertise to program oversight at Cedar Point Recovery and is dedicated to ensuring that our clients receive the highest quality services on their road to recovery.
Andrew Wakefield, MA, LMFT
Clinical Supervisor and Licensed Therapist
Andrew provides clinical supervision and treatment within the dual-diagnosis program at Cedar Point Recovery. He has provided evaluation and treatment to forensic populations, including substance abusing clients, sex offenders and human trafficking victims, for the past several years. Andrew has provided care in various settings including hospitals, jails, inpatient units and outpatient clinics. He is licensed in California as a Marriage and Family Therapist and has been featured on national podcasts speaking on forensic, mental health, and substance abuse topics.
Jacquline Gonzales, BA, CADC-I
Jacquline, "Jackie" is one of our clinicians and is a CCAPP certified CADC-I. Jackie attended American River College where she graduated with five Associates degrees, all in the Human Services and Chemical Dependency fields. She has also received a Bachelor’s Degree in Substance Abuse and is actively working on her Master’s Degree. Jackie has a warm and empathetic nature which helps to create a safe and trusting environment, allowing participants to feel comfortable and open up. She enjoys watching her clients gain self-confidence, helping them achieve their goals and teaching them cognitive behavioral skills to sustain their recovery long-term.
Patricia Clifford, CADC-I
Patricia has been a substance abuse clinician at Cedar Point since 2017. As a CCAPP certified CADC-I, she also currently holds a certificate in Human Services. Her plans to continue her education are indicative of the kind of commitment and dedication she shows in every aspect of her work. She is an excellent team player, bringing skills and experience in conflict resolution, communication, emotional regulation, relapse prevention planning, and the 12-step recovery model. Patricia is known for strong but gentle empathy and her ability to see the bigger picture, taking a whole person approach. She is detail oriented, especially in treatment planning and aftercare. Clients appreciate her ability to hold the dialectic between change and acceptance and her resourcefulness and dependability to client centered care.
Maryl Russo, BA
Maryl serves as our Facilities Administrator and is responsible for all non-clinical staff and program operations. She ensures that program service and quality is upheld and employees are performing their duties according to all Federal, State and local laws. With a Bachelor’s of Arts degree from the University of Florida and over 22 years in medical facilities management, Maryl brings leadership and unwavering compassion to Cedar Point Recovery.
Business Development Liaison
Nathan Desrys serves as a Business Development Liaison. He is responsible for the marketing, advertising and referral process and community relations of Cedar Point Recovery. He is a Sacramento native and has worked in the field of drug and alcohol addiction treatment for over a decade in a variety of settings including detox, residential and outpatient. Nathan is currently a State and Internationally Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor as well an Endorsed Interventionist. Nathan is passionate about assisting families guide their loved ones into treatment and helping connect them with additional resources for their own support and recovery.
Brian Mackin, MD
Dr. Mackin is Board Certified by the American Board of Integrative and Holistic Medicine, the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, as well as Board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. He is a member in good standing of both the American Psychiatric Association and the American Academy of Family Physicians. After receiving his Bachelor of Science in Biology at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, and a Doctorate of Medicine from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Dr. Mackin moved to Sacramento where he completed residencies in Family Medicine and Psychiatry at UC Davis Medical Center. It is important to Dr. Mackin to develop a working relationship with his patients to mutually establish the best treatment plan. He enjoys working with adults to overcome and treat a full spectrum of mental health issues. Finding your strengths and helping nourish growth in a healing direction is the foundation and purpose of his practice.
Judy Anderson, MSN, FNP-C
Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
Judy serves as our Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. She holds a Bachelor's of Science and a Master's of Science, both from San Francisco State University. She enjoys helping her patients achieve their goals of optimal health and is passionate about promoting proper nutrition, quality sleep, lowering stress and achieving personal happiness. Judy always puts her patients first by going the extra step, fostering mutual trust through her warm, empathetic and compassionate nature.
Tracy Erickson, BSN, RN
Tracy currently serves as Cedar Point Recovery’s Wellness Manager. She holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Phoenix and is actively working towards her Master’s in Nursing as well completing requirements for her Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner certification. She has worked in a variety of settings including medication assisted treatment, sub-acute detox and residential programing. Tracy is passionate about overseeing the health and safety of our clients to maximize their comfort and ensure they are cared for with the highest level of professionalism.
Stephen Fox, MA, AMFT
Mental Health Therapist
Stephen is a Mental Health Therapist at Cedar Point Recovery. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a concentration in Clinical and Counseling Studies from the University of Indianapolis. He also holds a Masters of Arts in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy from National University. Stephen has developed professional experience working with various populations including over two years of volunteer experience with a nonprofit organization dedicated to meeting needs of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (LGBT) community. Stephen has experience providing individual, couples and group therapy to adults living with mental illness, co-occurring disorders as well as children struggling with behavioral difficulties.
Cynthia Porter, BS, CADC-III, ICADC
Business Development Liaison
Cynthia serves as a Business Development Liaison. Her responsibilities include ensuring efficient admissions processes for clients, coordinating external referrals and vetting recovery resources in order to provide participants with the best possible ongoing care options upon treatment completion. As a State and Internationally Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC-III) with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from the University of California at Davis, Cynthia is able to utilize her education, training and real world counseling skills to assist struggling families and their loved ones as they reach out for guidance in regaining control of their lives.
